Target Audience
This foundation level course is ideal for:
Everyone Working with Older People in Health, Social Care, Housing, Community Services and Voluntary Organisations
Course Description
The course explores how attitudes towards ageing influence the experiences of older people and examines the impact ageism can have on health, wellbeing, confidence, independence, participation and quality of life.
It also introduces the principles of positive ageing and demonstrates how every member of staff can help create environments where older people are respected, valued, listened to and supported to continue living meaningful, purposeful and fulfilling lives.
Rather than viewing ageing as a period defined by decline, this course promotes an evidence-informed, strengths-based approach that recognises later life as a time of continued growth, contribution, learning, creativity and opportunity.
